Split PDF

Choose pages from thumbnails or type ranges like 1-3, 5, 8-10, then download one PDF or a ZIP of separate files.

Browser-based processing is used where supported. Review each tool's privacy notes before entering sensitive information.

Separate a large PDF into useful page groups

Split PDF helps you turn a long document into smaller, purpose-specific files. It is useful when a recipient needs only one chapter, when a portal has a page limit, or when a scanned bundle contains several unrelated records.

Choose a splitting strategy

Use a continuous range when the pages form a chapter or section, such as pages 12–24. Use individual page selections when the required pages are scattered through the source document.

Splitting does not rewrite the original file on your device. It creates a separate output, which makes it safe to test a range and return to the original if the selection needs adjustment.

  • ✓ Extract a single page
  • ✓ Create a range such as 2–8
  • ✓ Select several non-adjacent pages

Check page numbering carefully

The page number entered in the tool refers to the PDF page position, not always the printed number shown in a book or report. A document may label its first page as “i” or omit a cover from printed numbering.

Preview the source or confirm the page count before exporting. This avoids sending the wrong appendix or leaving out a page that was numbered differently inside the document.

Practical output expectations

The extracted pages retain their PDF page content and are saved as a new document. Bookmarks, forms, attachments, or unusual interactive features may not behave exactly like the source after a page-level export.

For confidential material, use a trusted device and download the result to a location you control. The tool does not provide a server-side document vault.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I extract pages in a custom order?

The standard workflow selects pages from the source and exports them in the tool’s supported page order. Use Merge PDF afterward if you need to assemble separate outputs.

Can I get separate files instead of one PDF?

Yes. Choose one PDF per typed range, or Extract Every Page, and the tool bundles the results into a single ZIP download.

Will splitting edit my original PDF?

No. The original file remains unchanged and the selected pages are written to a new PDF.

Why is the page number different from the printed number?

PDF positions count physical pages from the beginning, while printed numbering may use Roman numerals, inserts, or a skipped cover.
